With regards to music..

With regards to music, I was interested in the inside of the shirt - the actual, living experience. Now I realize that the inside and the outside of the shirt - it's technical, analytical knowledge, can't exist without one another. Thinking of them as two separate things and trying to put on over the other is in fact the source of many problems.

 

It's like arguing over whether 'the beloved' is a person, a mere mortal or God itself! 

 

I've always wondered whether mystics, sufis would distinguish between the earthly and the godly, the erotic and the spiritual. Not at all, I think. Oneness is precisely what they point at all the time.
