I found myself in the french café

alone, on Valentine's day 

The crowd was loud, the mood was merry

with the doodah of festive art,

jeez! every item topped with a cherry

and pink little fondant heart

'The usual madame - flan au fromage?'

the boy from counter asked 

'Yes, and chuck that silly heart please,

if it's not too much of a task!'

At this what a crisp and hearty laugh

he laughed! I laughed then too

wondering if they can top flans with laughter,

wishing they somehow do.
